Do I feel remorse, you ask?
What do you expect me to say,
You who judge?

Shall I weep at the loss?
Shall I let silent tears slide down my face?
Shall I beg the forgiveness of God
For the unforgivable?

The weeping of a condemned man
Is a condemned man's weeping--
A valueless thing--the weeping of one
Who was caught.

My emotions are not for tawdry display;
Look elsewhere for tears.
I shall keep the ocean awash inside me
To myself.
